***Attention All Patients***
Medicare Patients:
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that the 2025 Medicare Part B deductible is $257 per year, which is a $17 increase from 2024. The standard monthly premium for Part B in 2025 is $185, which is a $10.30 increase from 2024. Please be aware that the financial responsibility and requirements pertaining to any treatment rendered at Nassau Sports Care at the beginning of the new year will likely be affected by your plan’s deductibles requirements. Our office tries to provide clarity and explanation for any insurance changes that may affect our patients annually. However, it is ultimately the patient’s responsibility to know their insurance plans and annual financial changes and requirements.
While it may not affect your care at our facility all Medicare patients should also be aware of the following: In addition to the Part B deductible and premium, people with incomes above a certain amount may have to pay an income-related monthly adjustment amount (IRMAA). The IRMAA is a surcharge that is calculated annually and is based on adjusted gross income (AGI) from two years earlier. For 2025, the Part B IRMAA surcharge ranges from $74.00 to $443.90.
United HealthCare Medicare Advantage Patients:
In early August, UHC announced that it would require prior authorization for physical and occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and chiropractic services provided in multidisciplinary offices and outpatient hospital settings effective September 1, 2024. Services provided in the home would not be subject to prior authorization. APTA and ASHA Advocacy is pushing back against this policy as we believe prior authorization is an ineffective utilization management technique that delays access to care for patients and increases administrative burden for clinicians. This will certainly affect the longevity of treatment plans for affected patients at Nassau Sports Care. If any patient is refused coverage we will work with you to find the best course of action to continue your treatment and plan of care.
Medicare Patients with Emblem-GHI Senior Care:
Senior Care members - As you may know, $15 co-pays for the EmblemHealth-GHI portion of the Senior Care Plan were previously suspended by court order. Now, in accordance with a more recent court order, $15 co-pays will resume on January 1, 2025. You will receive a new ID card before January 1, 2025.
